In Memory of Roy Mario Calderon
Roy Mario CalderonRoy Mario Calderon, 89 passed away on November 18, 2021 in his home town of Chicago, Illinois.
Roy was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Vincent and Juanita Calderon on April 16, 1932.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He served with the United States Army during the Korea Conflict in 1952 and was honorably discharged. Throughout his life, he pursued many diverse and special interests, including as gymnast, guitarist and photographer. He was an avid fisherman and handcrafted numerous poles, flies and lures.
He was an accomplished Marble Setter/Bricklayer and active with the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers for over 50 years. Some of his work you can see in the historic buildings in the city of Chicago like the Cultural Center, Lake Pointe Towers, Water Tower and the John Hancock building.
Sense of Family
What was simply irreplaceable, though, was Roy's sense of family, and its core beliefs and ideas which bound his family together. Togetherness was the essential element.
Roy is survived by all those who loved and cared for him, including his wife, Heydi; his sons Mark (Aida) and Stephen; and his daughters Charmaine (Richard) Balcerzak, Jennifer (Mike) Maayteh and Elishia (Edgar) Rodriguez; and his surviving siblings Esther, Frank and Alfred. He was a proud and loving grandpa of Eric, Brandon, Ryan, Victoria, Emma, Michael, Morgan, Matthew, Alice and Vincent, and great-grandfather to Isaiah and Olden.
Visitation, Services and Memoriams
A visitation for Roy will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave. Stickney, Illinois.
A graveside service will occur from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 4101 South Oak Park Ave. Stickney, Illinois.
A funeral service will occur from 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3745 S. Paulina St. Chicago, Illinois.
